Category: Environmental Monitoring
Description: Manages STE environmental sensor configuration, temperature and humidity readings, and alarm thresholds.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is STE-MIB?
STE-MIB is a private proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 21796) reporting generic environmental sensor readings tagged with a device MAC address for trap correlation. Its objects cover the device's MAC address in text form and a sensor table (index, name, state, string value, numeric value, serial number, unit). As a status MIB it lets an administrator identify which physical device a sensor trap came from (via the MAC address) and read its current value/state. It is deployed on environmental-sensor equipment implementing this private MIB. Engineers can download the STE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in STE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HWg (Hardware Group) environmental sensor unit (STE model)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator reads infoAddressMAC alongside sensValue to identify which physical unit generated a sensor alert on environmental-sensor equipment implementing this MIB.
What Can Be Monitored
- environmental sensor readings and device identification

RFC description
Environmental monitoring MIB for HWg-STE sensors reporting temperature, humidity, and equipment status.
Start monitoring HWg environmental sensor unit (STE series, MAC-tagged sensor/alarm status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
