What Is SNR-ERD-4?

SNR-ERD-4 is a vendor MIB from NAG for the SNR-ERD environmental relay device, a rack-mount sensor/relay monitoring unit used in telecom and data-center environments. It exposes readings from multiple analog and digital sensor inputs (voltage sensor and a bank of serial-numbered sensor channels S1-S10), including temperature sensors, along with relay outputs and configurable alarm thresholds. Its core purpose is environmental hardware monitoring: administrators poll voltage and temperature sensor channels to detect out-of-range conditions such as overheating equipment racks or power supply voltage drift, and use relay status to confirm alarm outputs (e.g., door contacts, smoke/water sensors wired to the unit) are functioning as expected. As a self-contained environmental monitoring appliance MIB, it has no significant dependency on other vendor MIBs beyond standard SNMP. It is typically deployed in telecom equipment rooms, data-center racks, or remote cabinets where the SNR-ERD-4 unit provides centralized environmental and relay-based alarm monitoring via SNMP. Under the measurements branch, a temperature reading exceeding a configured threshold would indicate a cooling failure in the equipment room requiring immediate attention.
