Description: MIB for monitoring and controlling dry contact inputs and outputs, including alarm cutoff, on Smartoptics SiteLight optical network equipment

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SL-DRY-CON-MIB?

SL-DRY-CON-MIB is a Smartoptics SiteLight MIB for the dry-contact (relay-style) I/O interfaces present on the platform, used to bring external alarm inputs into the system and to drive external outputs such as alarm-cutoff relays. It exposes tables for dry-contact outputs (command and active status) and inputs (description and severity), plus a global alarm-cutoff control and a last-change timestamp. This is a hardware-status-focused MIB: it lets an operator see the state of externally wired equipment (door sensors, generator alarms, HVAC faults, etc.) connected via the dry contacts, and to command outputs such as silencing an audible alarm. It depends on the platform's general alarm/trap conventions shared across other SL-*-MIB modules (e.g., slDryConTraps) for notifying the NMS of state changes. It is deployed at sites using Smartoptics SiteLight optical transport equipment where external facility alarms (power, HVAC, intrusion) need to be integrated into the same management system as the optical network. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the SL-DRY-CON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SL-DRY-CON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Smartoptics SiteLight optical transport equipment (dry-contact I/O interface)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll slDryConInTable/slDryConInEntry (indexed by slDryConInIndex) to read slDryConInDescription and slDryConInSeverity for each wired alarm input, immediately identifying which external condition (e.g., a door or power alarm) is active. slDryConOutTable lets the operator check slDryConOutActiveStatus against the intended slDryConOutCommand for each relay output, and slDryConAlarmCutoff shows whether an operator has already silenced the site alarm. slDryConLastChange indicates how recently any dry-contact state changed, useful for correlating with a reported site event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • dry contact input alarm state/severity
  • dry contact output command/active status
  • site alarm cutoff status
  • last dry-contact state change time
