Description: TIMETRA-IPFIX-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TIMETRA-IPFIX-MIB?
This Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent proprietary MIB manages IPFIX (IP Flow Information Export) provisioning on the 7xxx SROS platform, the standardized successor to Cisco NetFlow used for exporting IP traffic flow records to a collector. It exposes export policy configuration -- policy name, description, row status, and the collector address(es) each policy exports to via a nested column table. Though largely a provisioning MIB, its row-status and last-changed timestamp objects let an operator confirm that a flow-export policy is administratively active and has not silently failed after a configuration change, which is the software-health signal relevant here. It is built on the IETF IPFIX standard (RFC 7011 family) while layering the vendor's own policy-table structure on top. It's typically deployed on 7750 SR / 7450 ESS edge routers exporting traffic-flow telemetry for capacity planning, billing, or security analytics. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-IPFIX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-IPFIX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR
- 7450 ESS edge router
Monitoring Examples
An operator walks tmnxIpfixExpPlcyTable / tmnxIpfixExpPlcyEntry keyed by tmnxIpfixExpPlcyName to check tmnxIpfixExpPlcyRowStatus and tmnxIpfixExpPlcyLastCh, confirming an export policy is active and identifying when it was last modified. The nested tmnxIpfixExpPlcyColTable / tmnxIpfixExpPlcyColEntry, addressed via tmnxIpfixExpPlcyColAddrType/tmnxIpfixExpPlcyColAddr, lists the actual IPFIX collector destinations -- an admin would check this table to verify flow records are still being pointed at the correct collector after a network change, since a stale or unreachable address here silently stops flow export.
What Can Be Monitored
- export policy row status
- export policy last-changed time
- collector destination address
- policy description/name
