Description: Manages SAF Tehnika IP radio link parameters, modulation, and transport configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SAF-IPRADIO?

SAF-IPRADIO is a vendor-specific MIB from SAF Tehnika, covering their IP-based microwave radio link products used for point-to-point wireless backhaul transport. It exposes a mix of device identification (product, radioName), configuration (license, licenseMask, loopback and loopback-tributary settings), and environmental/operational data such as system temperature and system date/time. It is explicitly useful for monitoring hardware status, most notably device temperature (sysTemperature) for thermal health, license/feature enablement, and administrative actions like configuration writes (writeConfig) and remote CPU restarts (restartcpu). No dependency on other MIBs is evident from the available data, so it appears to be a largely self-contained enterprise MIB. It is typically deployed by telecom/wireless-backhaul operators monitoring outdoor microwave radio terminals for link quality, thermal stress, and licensing compliance. Engineers can download the SAF-IPRADIO file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAF-IPRADIO. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SAF Tehnika IP microwave radio
  • point-to-point wireless backhaul radio terminal

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll sysTemperature on a SAF Tehnika radio unit to catch overheating in an outdoor enclosure before it causes link degradation, and check licenseMask/license objects to confirm which modulation or capacity features are enabled. The loopbacks and loopback-tributary-mask objects let a technician remotely initiate loopback tests on tributary channels to isolate a transport fault without a truck roll, and restartcpu provides a remote recovery action if the radio unit becomes unresponsive.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system temperature
  • system date and time
  • license/feature status
  • loopback test status per tributary
  • product/radio identification
  • configuration write status
