Description: Radial mean square error value *10 in dB. Radial MSE is a method for estimating the signal to noise ratio. ACM engine uses normalized MSE, which is the inverse of SNR. It is calculated by dividing the estimated MSE level with the energy of the received constellation. Radial MSE peak value threshold is dependent on modulation used and LDPC code rate. In case of QPSK it is -8 dB (-10.5 for 'wide'), 16APSK - -13 dB (-18 for 'wide') and 32APSK - -15.5 dB (-21.5 for 'wide'). If the value trespasses this threshold, BER at the output of LDPC decoder will reach the value of 1.0e-06.

What is modemRadialMSE?

This value reports the radial mean square error (MSE), multiplied by 10, in dB, a measure of signal-to-noise ratio used by the ACM engine (as normalized MSE, the inverse of SNR). An admin monitors this against modulation-specific thresholds (for example roughly -8 dB for QPSK, -13 dB for 16APSK, -15.5 dB for 32APSK) to judge how much margin the link has before bit errors start appearing at the LDPC decoder's output. A radial MSE value trending toward its modulation's threshold is an early warning the link is losing margin, even before ACM steps down to a more robust modulation.
