Category: Microwave Radio - SAF Tehnika, SAF Tehnika Microwave

Description: Covers channel configuration and traffic aggregation for SAF Tehnika multi-point multiplexers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SAF-MPMUX-MIB?

SAF-MPMUX-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from SAF Tehnika covering their multi-point multiplexer (MPMUX) products used in microwave radio backhaul links. It exposes terminal identification data (product, description, location, version) alongside operational and RF performance parameters for the microwave link. The MIB is explicitly geared toward hardware and operational health monitoring: it reports IDU (indoor unit) temperature, frame error counts, and RF cable power status for each of two RF ports, and offers management actions such as writing configuration and restarting the CPU. There is no indication of dependency on other standard MIBs beyond the enterprise SAF/Tehnika tree, making it largely self-contained. It is typically deployed in wireless backhaul networks where operators need to remotely supervise microwave multiplexer terminals for link quality, thermal health, and remote recovery. Engineers can download the SAF-MPMUX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAF-MPMUX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SAF Tehnika microwave radio multiplexer terminal
  • microwave backhaul indoor unit (IDU)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll termIduTemperature to catch overheating of the indoor unit before it triggers a fault, and watch termFrameErrors to detect a degrading microwave link before it drops packets. termRf1CablePowerStatus and termRf2CablePowerStatus reveal whether either RF cable feed has lost power, which typically indicates a cable fault or connector issue at the antenna. If a device becomes unresponsive, an administrator can invoke restartCPU remotely rather than dispatching a technician to the tower site.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IDU temperature
  • frame error count
  • RF1 cable power status
  • RF2 cable power status
  • terminal operation state
  • firmware/hardware version
