Category: Network Management

Description: Manages out-of-band management IP addresses, default gateway, and access-control settings on Paradyne access equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-MGMT-IP-MIB?

PDN-MGMT-IP-MIB is a Paradyne Networks vendor MIB for configuring and monitoring the out-of-band management IP interface(s) on its DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment. It exposes a management IP port table with per-port IP address, netmask, Ethernet gateway address, physical (MAC) address, configuration mode, admin status, and ATM boot parameters (interface index, VPI, VCI) used when the DSLAM boots management connectivity over ATM. Its monitoring focus is on software/configuration status of the management plane - confirming the DSLAM's management IP address, gateway, and admin status are correctly set is essential for verifying remote manageability of the device itself, distinct from subscriber-facing DSL service. It is layered on top of standard IP addressing concepts but is otherwise a self-contained Paradyne configuration MIB for DSLAM management access. It's deployed on Paradyne DSLAM chassis in telco central offices to control how each unit is reached for remote management. Engineers can download the PDN-MGMT-IP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-MGMT-IP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne Networks DSLAM

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check pdnMgmtIpPortTable/pdnMgmtIpPortEntry (keyed by pdnMgmtIpPortIndex) for pdnMgmtIpAddress, pdnMgmtIpNetMask, and pdnMgmtIpEthGateway to confirm the DSLAM's management interface is reachable, and pdnMgmtIpAdminStatus to verify the port is administratively enabled. pdnMgmtBootIfIndex, pdnMgmtBootVpi, and pdnMgmtBootVci reveal which ATM VPI/VCI the unit uses to bootstrap management connectivity, useful when diagnosing a DSLAM that fails to come up on the management network after a reboot.

What Can Be Monitored

  • management IP address/netmask
  • management gateway address
  • management port admin status
  • ATM boot interface/VPI/VCI configuration

RFC description

Configures management IP interfaces for PDN DSLAM devices over Ethernet and ATM PVCs. Manages IP addresses, masks, and ARP for device management access.
