Last Updated: 2007-07-08

Category: MPLS/Traffic Engineering

Description: Monitors PCEP (Path Computation Element Communication Protocol) sessions, LSP state, and message counters between PCC and PCE.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PCE-PCEP-DRAFT-MIB?

PCE-PCEP-DRAFT-MIB is a standard IETF PCE (Path Computation Element) Working Group MIB (an early draft, precursor to RFC 6524) managing PCEP (Path Computation Element Communication Protocol) client/peer sessions. Its objects cover a client-last-change time and next-index counter, a client table (PCEP ID, admin/operational status, TCP port, keepalive/dead timer, storage type, row status), a peer-last-change time and table (PCEP ID, transport address type/address), a max-session count, and a session table (state-last-change time, state, remaining keepalive-hold time). As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm PCEP session establishment and keepalive timing between a PCC and PCE. It is deployed on network devices implementing PCEP (Path Computation Element Protocol). Engineers can download the PCE-PCEP-DRAFT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PCE-PCEP-DRAFT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Network devices implementing PCEP (Path Computation Element Protocol)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks pcePcepSessionState and pcePcepSessionKeepAliveHoldTimeRem to confirm a PCEP session between a PCC and PCE is healthy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PCEP client/peer session establishment and keepalive timing
