Category: MPLS/Traffic Engineering, Products/Registration

Description: Defines textual conventions shared across IETF Path Computation Element (PCE) standard MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PCE-TC-STD-MIB?

PCE-TC-STD-MIB is an IETF standards-track MIB module that defines Textual Conventions (TCs) shared across Path Computation Element (PCE) related MIB modules, rather than a MIB with its own runtime managed objects. Its purpose is purely definitional: it centralizes common data types (such as PCE identifiers or capability flags) so that other PCE MIB modules can import them and avoid duplicating conventions. As a textual-conventions-only module it exposes no monitorable hardware or software status data itself; it has no objects for uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, or fault counters. By design it is depended upon by other PCE-related MIB modules (e.g., PCE state/session MIBs), making it a foundational, shared-type dependency rather than a standalone monitoring MIB. It is relevant in MPLS/GMPLS traffic-engineering networks wherever Path Computation Elements are deployed for constraint-based path computation. Engineers can download the PCE-TC-STD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PCE-TC-STD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer; applies to routers/PCE servers performing MPLS/GMPLS path computation

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only textual conventions and imports/exports shared data types for other PCE MIBs; it contains no runtime data objects (no tables, counters, or status scalars) of its own, so no concrete monitoring scenario can be honestly described for it.
