Description: IBM/Brocade MIB providing custom extensions for Brocade-branded IBM SAN switch monitoring and management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IBM-BCCUSTOM-MIB?

IBM-BCCUSTOM-MIB is a joint IBM/Brocade MIB providing custom management extensions for Brocade-based Fibre Channel/SAN switches sold under IBM branding, covering the Brocade Pharos embedded switch platform. It exposes SNMPv3 user-management objects (authentication/privacy protocols, passwords, trap destinations) alongside firmware and system-file command objects, meaning its focus is largely administrative/security configuration and firmware control rather than raw performance counters. It supports monitoring of software configuration state, confirming an SNMPv3 user's operational state and access type, or verifying firmware command status, which is important for confirming secure management access and firmware currency on the switch. It is layered on top of Brocade's core Fabric OS SAN switch MIBs and standard SNMPv3 USM concepts. It is deployed on IBM-branded Brocade SAN switches in Fibre Channel storage area networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the IBM-BCCUSTOM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IBM-BCCUSTOM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IBM-branded Brocade SAN/Fibre Channel switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would check iomSnmpv3UserName/iomSnmpv3UserState entries to confirm SNMPv3 management users are correctly configured and active, and use firmwareCmd/systemFileCmd status objects to verify a firmware upgrade completed successfully; a user stuck in an unexpected iomSnmpv3UserState would reveal a misconfigured management account.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMPv3 user configuration/state
  • SNMPv3 trap destination addresses
  • firmware command status
  • system file command status
