Description: IBM MIB for the ServeRAID RAID controller providing array, logical drive, and physical disk status monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IBM-SERVERAID-MIB?

IBM-SERVERAID-MIB is an IBM enterprise MIB for the ServeRAID family of hardware RAID controllers found in IBM (and IBM-OEM) servers, providing management data for RAID controllers, logical drives, and physical disks. It exposes agent identification data (company, version, build date) alongside a controller table listing each detected ServeRAID controller's identifier and model. Its central purpose is hardware status monitoring -- tracking RAID controller presence and model, controller firmware/agent version, and (via associated logical-drive and physical-disk objects in the broader MIB) array health, disk failure, and rebuild status, making it a key tool for storage fault detection on IBM servers. It is a self-contained IBM enterprise MIB with no significant dependency on other standard MIBs beyond typical SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It is typically deployed on IBM xSeries/System x servers (or OEM-rebadged Adaptec/LSI-based ServeRAID controllers) to alert administrators to RAID array degradation, disk failures, or firmware mismatches, making this controller table a foundational component of IBM-SERVERAID-MIB SNMP monitoring for storage fault detection.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IBM-SERVERAID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IBM xSeries/System x server with ServeRAID controller

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls ibmServeRaidControllerTable (ibmServeRaidControllerEntry: ibmServeRaidKeyIndex, ibmServeRaidControllerId, ibmServeRaidModel) to inventory which ServeRAID controller model is installed in a server and cross-checks ibmServeRaidAgentVersion/ibmServeRaidAgentVersionMajor/Minor against the expected agent firmware baseline. If a physical disk in an array fails, the broader ServeRAID MIB's disk/logical-drive status objects (built on this controller table) would report a degraded array state, prompting a hot-spare rebuild; polling ibmServeRaidAgentBuildDate also helps confirm the management agent itself is current before troubleshooting a reported fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID controller presence and model
  • RAID agent/firmware version
  • controller identifier/index
  • array/logical drive health (degraded/failed state)
  • physical disk failure status
