Description: GroupWise API gateway MIB for monitoring Novell GroupWise application programming interface agent status and queues.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GWAPIMIB?
GWAPIMIB is a Novell GroupWise-specific MIB for monitoring the GroupWise API Gateway agent, which bridges GroupWise messaging with external or foreign email/API systems. It exposes gateway identity, uptime, link status to both the GroupWise system and the foreign messaging system, and byte and message throughput and error counters for inbound and outbound traffic. This is a software service-status MIB in essence: ngwAPIUptime tracks gateway process availability, ngwAPIGroupWiseLink and ngwAPIFrgnLink report the health of the two connections the gateway bridges, and the in/out message, byte, and error counters reveal whether mail is flowing normally or backing up or failing. Being Novell-proprietary, it has no dependency on IETF standard MIBs but is typically deployed alongside sibling GroupWise agent MIBs under the same enterprise tree. It is deployed on GroupWise gateway servers that interconnect a GroupWise domain with external mail or API systems. Engineers can download the GWAPIMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GWAPIMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Novell GroupWise API gateway server
Monitoring Examples
Polling ngwAPIGatewayName alongside ngwAPIUptime confirms which gateway instance is being queried and how long it has been running. Watching ngwAPIOutErrors and ngwAPIInErrors rise while ngwAPIOutMsgs/ngwAPIInMsgs stay flat indicates the gateway is failing to relay messages, and ngwAPIGroupWiseLink or ngwAPIFrgnLink reporting down pinpoints which side of the bridge has lost connectivity, explaining a stalled mail queue.
What Can Be Monitored
- gateway uptime
- GroupWise link status
- foreign system link status
- inbound/outbound message counts
- inbound/outbound byte counts
- inbound/outbound error counts
