Description: GroupWise Post Office Agent MIB for monitoring Novell GroupWise POA client connections, queues, and throughput.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GWPOA-MIB?
GWPOA-MIB is Novell's MIB for the GroupWise Post Office Agent (POA), the server process that handles message delivery, rule execution, and client connections within a GroupWise post office. It exposes per-post-office objects tracking total and problem message counts, delivered user counts, executed rules, undeliverable messages, and priority versus normal message queue depths. This is a software/service-status monitoring MIB: administrators watch poaProblemMsgs and poaUndeliverableMsgs to catch mail delivery failures, and poaPriorityQueues/poaNormalQueues to detect message backlogs indicating the POA process is falling behind or overloaded. It is a standalone Novell-private application MIB with no dependency on standard network MIBs beyond general SNMP conventions. It is deployed on servers running Novell/Micro Focus GroupWise Post Office Agent software in corporate messaging environments. Engineers can download the GWPOA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GWPOA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- server running Novell/Micro Focus GroupWise Post Office Agent
Monitoring Examples
Polling poaTable/poaEntry, an admin tracks poaTotalMsgs against poaProblemMsgs and poaUndeliverableMsgs to spot a rising failure rate in mail processing for a given poaPostOfficeName. Watching poaPriorityQueues and poaNormalQueues reveals a growing backlog if the POA process can't keep pace with incoming mail, while poaDeliveredUsers and poaExecutedRules confirm the agent is actively processing deliveries and rule-based actions rather than being hung or stalled.
What Can Be Monitored
- total vs problem message counts
- undeliverable message count
- priority and normal message queue depth
- delivered user count
- executed rule count
