Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for JDSU optical test equipment integration and in-service optical monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F3-JDSU-MIB?

This ADVA Optical Networking MIB is part of the F3 platform (FSP150CM/CC family of carrier Ethernet demarcation devices) and covers integration with embedded JDSU (Viavi) optical test/traffic-generation hardware for in-service performance testing. It exposes configuration objects for a built-in traffic generator, including per-port VLAN tagging setup (outer and up to two inner/stacked VLAN tags with IDs, priorities, and EtherTypes). Rather than hardware environmental sensors, its monitoring value is centered on configuring and validating test-traffic generation used to verify service turn-up and SLA performance on the FSP 150 platform. As part of the broader F3 MIB family (alongside F3-PBB, F3-POPM, F3-PWE3) it is used together with those sibling MIBs and the platform's core chassis/interface MIBs rather than standalone. It is deployed on ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet network elements used by service providers for Ethernet service activation testing and performance monitoring. Engineers can download the F3-JDSU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-JDSU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet demarcation device

Monitoring Examples

A technician would configure f3JdsuGeneratorPort and enable f3JdsuGeneratorOuterVlanEnabled with a specific f3JdsuGeneratorOuterVlanId/Pri/EtherType to generate test traffic tagged to match a customer's service VLAN, then layer f3JdsuGeneratorInnerVlan1Enabled/Id and f3JdsuGeneratorInnerVlan2Enabled/Id to simulate a Q-in-Q or stacked-VLAN service during activation testing. This lets the operator confirm the FSP150 correctly forwards and prioritizes traffic matching the exact VLAN structure of the live service before handing it to the customer.

What Can Be Monitored

  • generator port assignment
  • outer VLAN tag ID/priority/EtherType
  • inner VLAN 1 tag configuration
  • inner VLAN 2 tag configuration
  • VLAN tagging enable state
