What Is F3-ERP-MIB?

F3-ERP-MIB is ADVA Optical Networking's vendor-specific MIB for the FSP150CM/CC product line, implementing G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection (ERP) for managing ring-topology network resilience and failover. It exposes configuration objects (ring group admin state, RAPS ring/node/VLAN IDs, VLAN priority) alongside operational and secondary state, plus dedicated statistics and notification groupings. This is squarely a hardware/software status MIB for fault monitoring: f3ErpGroupOperationalState and f3ErpGroupSecondaryState reveal whether a ring is healthy, in a protection-switching state, or has failed over, which is critical for detecting link/node faults in the ring. It explicitly builds on the ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection standard and its RAPS (Ring Automatic Protection Switching) PDU model. It's typically deployed on ADVA FSP150 carrier Ethernet access/aggregation devices used in metro Ethernet ring topologies. Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll f3ErpGroupTable/f3ErpGroupEntry, checking f3ErpGroupOperationalState and f3ErpGroupSecondaryState to detect whether a ring has entered a protection-switched or failed state, which would indicate a break in the ring (e.g., a fiber cut or node failure). Cross-referencing f3ErpGroupRapsRingId, f3ErpGroupRapsNodeId, and f3ErpGroupRapsVlanId helps identify which specific ring and node reported the event. The f3ErpStatsObjects subtree would be polled for RAPS message counts to confirm the ring protection protocol is actively exchanging control PDUs as expected.
