Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for Ethernet Service Management (ESM), defining service-level attributes and performance.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is F3-ESM-MIB?
F3-ESM-MIB is ADVA Optical Networking's Ethernet Service Manager MIB for the FSP150CM/CC platform, providing a generic mechanism to attach configuration attributes and arbitrary name/value pairs to Ethernet service entities on the device. It exposes configuration-oriented data rather than raw counters: a table associating configuration objects with entities elsewhere in the F3 object model, and a name-value pair table for flexible per-service settings. As a monitoring tool it is mainly useful for confirming that service-level configuration (row status, storage type, and custom attribute values) is present and consistent on a device, which indirectly reflects the software/provisioning state of Ethernet services rather than hardware health. It depends on other F3-platform MIBs (such as the flow point and connect guard modules) for the entities it decorates, since esmConfigAssociatedEntity references objects defined elsewhere. It is deployed alongside other F3 MIBs on ADVA FSP150 boxes used for carrier Ethernet service delivery. Engineers can download the F3-ESM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-ESM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet access/aggregation device
Monitoring Examples
A management system would walk esmConfigTable/esmConfigEntry keyed by esmConfigIndex to see which service entity esmConfigAssociatedEntity points to and confirm esmConfigRowStatus is active for provisioned services. The esmNameValuePairTable lets an admin inspect esmNameValuePairName/esmNameValuePairValue pairs attached to a given config entry, useful for auditing custom service tags or feature flags that other tables don't model directly. A row left in notInService within esmConfigRowStatus would flag an incompletely provisioned Ethernet service.
What Can Be Monitored
- service configuration row status
- associated service entity
- custom name/value service attributes
- configuration storage type
