What Is ELTEX-SMI-ACTUAL?

ELTEX-SMI-ACTUAL is Eltex Networks' Structure of Management Information module, providing the root enterprise OID tree used by all other Eltex MIB modules, while also defining top-level alarm/notification branches for several Eltex hardware line cards and modules (PON/Teknovus, FXS-72 voice ports, PP4 power modules, MXA32 access controllers). It therefore mixes structural OID assignment with fault-monitoring notification groups, covering categories like PON alarm conditions, voice port (FXS) alarm and cleared states, and power supply (PP4) alarm conditions. Its practical monitoring value is centered on hardware fault/status reporting: alarm traps such as fxs72AlarmTraps and fxs72OkTraps signal when an FXS port module enters or clears an alarm state, mxa32AlarmTraps/mxa32OkTraps do the same for MXA32 access controller cards, and pp4AlarmTraps flags power module faults. Other Eltex product MIB modules depend on the enterprise OID root defined here, and the notification objects likely correlate with entity/physical-index information from ENTITY-MIB on multi-card Eltex chassis. It is deployed on Eltex Networks access and PON equipment such as MXA/FXS voice gateways and PON OLT/ONU line cards, and loading the ELTEX-SMI-ACTUAL MIB file is a prerequisite for any NMS that intends to receive these FXS, MXA32, or PP4 alarm traps.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would subscribe to fxs72AlarmTraps to be notified when an FXS-72 voice port card raises an alarm (e.g. a port or trunk fault), and watch for the corresponding fxs72OkTraps notification once the condition clears. Similarly, mxa32AlarmTraps/mxa32OkTraps report fault and recovery events on Eltex MXA32 access controller modules, while pp4AlarmTraps flags a power supply module problem on PP4-equipped chassis. ponTeknovusAlarmTraps covers alarm conditions on the PON/Teknovus-based access line, useful for catching optical or ONU-side faults.
