What Is FORCE10-TC?
FORCE10-TC is a Dell Force10 (Dell Networking OS) proprietary MIB that defines shared textual conventions (custom data types) used consistently across the entire Force10 SNMP MIB suite, such as common enumerations, string formats, or index types. It contains no runtime data objects of its own; it exists purely to standardize how other Force10 MIBs represent values like status codes, indices, or identifiers. As such it has no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status; its value is indirect, ensuring that the many other Force10 MIBs (interfaces, FIB, BMP, environment, etc.) that a monitoring system polls for real hardware/software data are internally consistent in their type definitions. It is a foundational dependency imported by essentially every other Dell Force10-specific MIB module. Compiling any Force10 product module requires the FORCE10-TC module to be loaded first, since it supplies the shared type definitions those modules reference. It is used wherever Dell Force10 switches/routers are managed via SNMP, as a supporting module rather than a standalone monitoring target.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FORCE10-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell PowerSwitch Z9432F-ON — 400GbE spine/core switch, successor line to the Force10 Z-Series
- Dell PowerSwitch S5248F-ON — 25/100GbE leaf switch, successor line to the Force10 S-Series
Monitoring Examples
This is a textual-conventions module, not a data-bearing MIB - it defines reusable SYNTAX types (such as custom enumerations or index conventions) that other Force10 MIBs import, so it has no tables or scalar objects of its own to poll and no monitoring scenario to describe honestly.
