Description: Manages DV2-series network device configuration and operational parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DV2-MIB?

DV2-MIB is a General DataComm (GDC) enterprise MIB (netcomm/products/dv2, enterprises 251) for the GDC D2/DV2 ATM switch platform, one of the largest and oldest modules in this collection with a revision history running from 1996 onward. Its object tree is organized into dozens of functional subtrees under dv2: system health (dv2System — sysMemEnd, sysInitialMemB/sysCurrentMemB, semaphore and queue-item counts, sysLinkTable), slot-level status (dv2Slot0), virtual-circuit configuration and status (dv2Pvc, dv2Svc, dv2VcStatus, dv2VcDoc), frame relay (dv2FrRelay, dv2MS2FRAC/dv2aal5), transport-layer groups for SONET/SDH and PDH (dv2SDH, dv2PDH, dv2LocalFibre), OAM and alarm handling (dv2Oam, dv2AlarmHandler, dv2Cac), billing (dv2Billing), circuit emulation (dv2CE, dv2VE), clocking (dv2Clocks, dv2SystemClocks), and an M-JPEG video/audio LIM card family (vidInCfg/vidOutCfg/vidInSta/vidOutSta, audInCfg/audOutCfg/audInSta/audOutSta, dataCfg/dataSta). This breadth reflects the DV2 platform's role as a multi-service ATM switch/multiplexer carrying voice, data, and compressed video over a shared fabric with pluggable Line Interface Modules (LIMs), so monitoring spans memory/queue resource exhaustion, per-VC and per-trunk status, physical-layer (SONET/PDH) alarms, and LIM-specific health depending on which cards are installed. It is deployed on GDC DV2 ATM switch chassis, and engineers supporting this legacy platform can get the DV2-MIB download to load its full object tree into a MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DV2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • General DataComm (GDC) DV2/D2 ATM switch chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls sysCurrentMemB and sysCurrentQItems against their sysInitial* baselines to watch for system resource exhaustion on the DV2 control processor, while separately checking dv2VcStatus for a given PVC/SVC; a steadily shrinking sysCurrentMemB alongside VCs dropping to a non-connected state would point to a resource leak on the switch degrading its ability to maintain virtual circuits.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system memory and queue/semaphore resource counters
  • per-slot and per-link status
  • PVC/SVC virtual circuit status
  • frame relay and AAL5 configuration/status
  • SONET/SDH and PDH transport alarms
  • billing table entries
  • M-JPEG LIM video/audio/data channel configuration and status
