Description: Provides management objects for the DMA200 series network device including configuration and status monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DMA200-MIB?
DMA200-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for General DataComm's (GDC) DMA200 series network access/multiplexer device, evidenced by the "gdc" root object identifier and the dmaMaster/dmaNode object prefixes. It exposes configuration and status data for the unit's dial-backup modem subsystem (dial prefix, phone number, dial-port status, scan control) and for multi-node network topology management. Its monitoring value centers on hardware/software operational status: dmaMasterDialPortStatus and dmaMasterDialing reveal whether the backup modem is idle or actively dialing out, and dmaMasterSupvAccess/dmaMasterFSterminate reflect supervisory session and termination state, together indicating whether automatic dial-backup failover has engaged due to a primary circuit outage. As a legacy proprietary device MIB it shows no apparent dependency on other MIBs beyond base SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It was typically deployed in legacy WAN environments where DMA200 units provided primary leased-line connectivity with dial-up modem backup between multiple network nodes. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the DMA200-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DMA200-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GDC DMA200 series WAN multiplexer/access device
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll dmaMasterDialPortStatus and dmaMasterDialing to see whether the unit's backup modem is idle or actively dialing, which reveals a primary-circuit outage triggering failover; dmaNodeTable/dmaNodeEntry keyed by dmaNodeNum would be walked to enumerate configured network nodes, and dmaMasterScanCtrl/dmaMasterResumeScan would show whether the unit is scanning for restoration of the primary link.
What Can Be Monitored
- dial-backup modem dial/connect status
- dial-out in-progress state
- supervisory access session state
- configured network node table
- primary-link restoration scan control state
