What Is DMTF-MOBILE-MIB?

DMTF-MOBILE-MIB is likewise a translation of a DMTF MIF file, here the Mobile Computer MIF, into SNMP objects via a DMI-to-SNMP mapping agent, making it a vendor-neutral standards-based module for laptop/mobile-computing hardware rather than a specific vendor's product. It exposes hardware bay inventory (dmtfDeviceBayTable, listing bay type, location, supported device types, and the device currently attached) and dynamic power-related states such as aCLineStatus. For monitoring purposes it is explicitly aimed at hardware status: whether AC power is connected versus running on battery, and what device is physically inserted in a given expansion/device bay (e.g., a second battery, optical drive, or hard disk bay), giving visibility into the physical configuration and power state of a mobile system. It relies on an underlying DMI-to-SNMP mapping agent and the broader DMTF DMI instrumentation framework to supply the data these objects surface. It would be deployed in IT-managed fleets of DMI-instrumented laptops/notebooks where administrators need remote visibility into battery/AC state and bay hardware without physically inspecting each machine. Monitoring Examples
