Category: VLAN Management
Description: Manages IEEE 802.1Q VLAN creation, port membership, and tagging on D-Link Prime switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DLINKPRIME-VLAN-MIB?
This is a D-Link Prime-series proprietary MIB module for managing IEEE 802.1Q Virtual LAN (VLAN) configuration, including VLAN creation, naming, and port tagging membership. It defines a vendor-specific VLAN list textual convention (Dlink2kVlanList) used across its tables to represent large VLAN membership bitmaps efficiently, alongside the underlying VLAN and port-membership objects. Monitoring through this MIB is primarily configuration-state verification: administrators check VLAN membership tables to confirm ports are assigned to the correct VLANs and that tagging (trunk vs. access) is applied as designed, catching misconfigurations that cause traffic to land in the wrong broadcast domain or fail to reach intended destinations. It complements the standard IEEE 802.1Q Q-BRIDGE-MIB (dot1qVlan objects), implementing similar functionality as a D-Link-specific extension. It is deployed on D-Link Prime series switches across enterprise networks segmenting traffic by VLAN for security or broadcast-domain control. Engineers can download the DLINKPRIME-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINKPRIME-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link Prime series switches
Monitoring Examples
Because no leaf sample objects were provided beyond the Dlink2kVlanList textual convention, a typical monitoring approach would poll this MIB's VLAN membership tables, which use the Dlink2kVlanList bitmap format to represent all VLANs a given port belongs to, to confirm a port's tagged/untagged VLAN assignments match the intended network design. An admin troubleshooting a device unable to reach a resource on another VLAN would check whether the port's VLAN membership bitmap actually includes the expected VLAN ID.
What Can Be Monitored
- VLAN creation and naming
- port VLAN membership bitmap
- tagged vs untagged port assignment
