What Is APTIS-MIB?
This is the base enterprise MIB from Nortel Networks' Aptis product line, a DSL access concentrator platform, defining the root object identifiers and core system structure under which other Aptis-specific MIBs are organized. With no module description or sample objects captured, it likely serves primarily as a namespace/registration MIB rather than exposing extensive monitorable data itself, so an APTIS-MIB download mainly obtains OID namespace definitions rather than a rich set of pollable objects. Where such base MIBs do expose objects, they typically cover core chassis/system identification, such as system uptime, software version, and chassis inventory, that other Aptis MIBs build upon for detailed hardware and service monitoring. It functions as the foundational dependency for other APTIS-* enterprise MIBs in the Nortel DSL concentrator MIB family. It's typically deployed as a supporting MIB wherever Nortel Aptis DSL concentrators are managed via SNMP in DSL access network deployments.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APTIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- base system/chassis identification (root MIB for other Aptis MIBs; specific objects not captured)
Supported Devices
- Nortel Networks Aptis DSL access concentrator
Monitoring Examples
An SNMP management platform would load APTIS-MIB first so that OID branches referenced by other Aptis MIBs, covering DSL line cards, ports, or system status, resolve correctly. Without confirmed sample objects, specific polling scenarios cannot be detailed here, but in practice a base MIB of this type typically anchors chassis identity and software version objects used across the broader Aptis product MIB set.
OIDs
| OID symbolic | OID numeric | Type | Access | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| aptis | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637 | The root of the sub-tree assigned to Aptis by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). | ||
| aptis_reg | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.1 | Sub-tree for registrations, including product and individual system boards. | ||
| aptisRootModule | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.1.1.1 | Nortel Networks Aptis Enterprise MIB | ||
| aptis_generic | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2 | Sub-tree for common object and event definitions. | ||
| aptis_config | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.1 | The collection of tables that make up the persistent configuration of the system. | ||
| aptis_monitoring | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.2 | The collection of tables that allows monitoring of the dynamic state of the system. | ||
| aptis_actions | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.3 | This subtree contains variables which allow a management station to invoke certain administrative actions such as file transfers, etc. These variables correspond to action commands in the CLI. | ||
| aptis_exp | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.4 | This subtree contains variables which are currently being tested and are not yet fully supported. | ||
| config_sync | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.4.2 | These variables are returned in SNMP Set Reply packets that modify configuration, allowing the NMS to keep its configuration database synchronized with the switch. They describe the state of the config database before and after a transaction that corresponds to an SNMP SET REQUEST. These values only have meaning when appended to a SET-REPLY PDU. | ||
| INT prevGenNum | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.4.2.1 | INTEGER | read-only | The value of the database subtree's GenNum before the transaction was applied. |
| INT deltaCount | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.4.2.2 | INTEGER | read-only | The expected delta to the database subtree's GenNum value as a result of the transaction in question. |
| INT currentGenNum | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.4.2.3 | INTEGER | read-only | The resulting value of the database subtree's GenNum after the transaction has been applied. |
| aptis_traps | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.2.5 | This subtree contains the aptis specific traps. | ||
| aptis_products | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2637.3 | Sub-tree for product-specific object and event definitions. |
