prtinputmediadimfeeddirdeclared

Module: CLJ8500-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLJ8500-MIB::prtinputmediadimfeeddirdeclared

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.2.8.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object provides the value of the declared dimension, in the feed direction, of the media that is (or, if empty, was or will be) in this input sub-unit. The feed direction is the direction in which the media is fed on this sub-unit. This dimension is measured in input sub-unit dimensional units (prtInputDimUnit). If this input sub-unit can reliably sense this value, the value is sensed by the printer and may not be changed by management requests. Otherwise, the value may be changed. The value (-1) means other and specifically means that this sub-unit places no restriction on this parameter. The value (-2) indicates unknown. Additional information: For trays 2, 3 and 4 (which can reliably sense this value) the objects behave exactly the same as prtInputMediaDimFeedDirChosen. Attempting to set this object for trays 2, 3 and 4 will cause to be returned. The default values assume the trays are configured for letter size paper. For tray 1 the value is the dimension for the media size currently declared.

What is prtinputmediadimfeeddirdeclared?

This object holds the declared length of the media currently loaded in an input tray, measured in the feed direction using the units from prtInputDimUnit. It matters operationally because if the tray can sense media automatically the printer fills this in itself, while on trays without sensors an admin or remote control panel must set it correctly or the printer will mis-scale the print job. For example, an admin loading legal-size paper into a non-sensing tray would write the appropriate feed-direction value here so the printer knows the sheet length before printing.
