Description: LaserJet-Series-5000-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LaserJet-Series-5000-MIB?

This is a Hewlett-Packard proprietary MIB for the HP LaserJet 5000 series printers, part of HP's business/workgroup laser printer line. It exposes print engine control, error logging, localization, power management, and device identification objects. It is used to monitor hardware/firmware status such as sleep-mode and energy-star power state, online/offline status, error-log-clear events, and background status messages that surface engine-level fault or status text, along with model-number/serial-number identification for asset tracking. It works in conjunction with the standard Printer MIB (RFC 3805) and HP's proprietary PML-based management architecture common across the HP LaserJet MIB family. It is deployed in office/workgroup environments where administrators use SNMP-based print management tools to track the health and status of HP LaserJet 5000 printers. Engineers can download the LaserJet-Series-5000-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LaserJet-Series-5000-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 5000 series printer

Monitoring Examples

Polling background-status-msg-line1-part1/background-status-msg-line2-part1 returns the printer's current status-line text (e.g., a paper jam or ready state), giving programmatic access to what would otherwise only be visible on the control panel. on-off-line combined with continue/auto-continue indicates whether the device is offline awaiting operator action, while error-log-clear tracks whether the internal error log has been reset, useful when investigating recurring hardware faults. model-number and serial-number support asset inventory correlation with SNMP-polled fault data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • control panel status message text
  • online/offline state
  • sleep/energy-star power mode
  • error log status
  • device model/serial identification
