Description: LaserJet-Series-8100-MBM-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LaserJet-Series-8100-MBM-MIB?

LaserJet-Series-8100-MBM-MIB is a Hewlett-Packard enterprise MIB extending the standard Printer MIB for the HP LaserJet 8100 series' Multi-Bin Mailbox (MBM) finishing accessory, which adds extra paper input trays and output bins/stacker bins to the printer. It exposes per-tray objects (media size loaded, physical device handle/"phd") for additional input trays (e.g. tray6, tray7) and per-bin objects (override mode, maximum binding/stacking capacity, phd) for additional output bins (outbin3 through outbin5). Its purpose is to monitor the hardware status of this print-finishing accessory: tray media-size-loaded objects reveal whether a tray is loaded with the expected paper size or is empty/mismatched, and outbin maximum-binding/override-mode objects reveal whether an output bin is full or in a manual override state, both common causes of print job failures or misdelivered output. It is an HP proprietary companion to the standard IETF Printer MIB (RFC 1759), extending that MIB's tray/bin model with device-specific objects under the hp/hpsystem enterprise branch. It is deployed on HP LaserJet 8100-series printers fitted with the Multi-Bin Mailbox finishing option in office environments needing sorted, stacked, or mailbox-style output. Engineers can download the LaserJet-Series-8100-MBM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LaserJet-Series-8100-MBM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 8100 series printer with Multi-Bin Mailbox (MBM) accessory

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll tray6-media-size-loaded and tray7-media-size-loaded to confirm the extra input trays are loaded with the expected paper size before a large print run, and check outbin3-maximum-binding versus current stack height to detect an output bin nearing capacity. outbin4-override-mode and outbin5-override-mode reveal whether those bins have been manually forced into a particular mode, which could explain unexpected output routing; the "-phd" (physical device handle) objects tie each tray/bin back to the underlying Printer MIB physical description for a specific hardware unit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • tray media size loaded
  • output bin maximum binding/capacity
  • output bin override mode
  • tray/bin physical device handle status
