Description: LaserJet-Series8000-MBM-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LaserJet-Series8000-MBM-MIB?

This HP proprietary MIB covers the Multi-Bin Mailbox (MBM) finishing accessory for the HP LaserJet 8000 series printers, an output-handling device that sorts printed pages into multiple output bins/mailboxes. It exposes objects for extra paper trays (tray6, tray7) and multiple output bins (outbin3 through outbin5+), including media size loaded, paper-handling-device (phd) status, override mode, and maximum binding/stacking capacity per bin. It is used to monitor hardware status of the finishing accessory: which media size is loaded in each extra tray, whether each output bin's paper-handling hardware is present and functioning, and whether a bin has reached its maximum capacity (which would halt job output). It extends the base HP LaserJet 8000 printer MIB and the standard Printer MIB (RFC 3805) framework, since it only makes sense in the context of the base printer's engine and job status objects. It is deployed in high-volume office/print-room environments where an HP LaserJet 8000 is fitted with a multi-bin mailbox accessory for automated output sorting. Engineers can download the LaserJet-Series8000-MBM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LaserJet-Series8000-MBM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 8000 series printer with Multi-Bin Mailbox accessory

Monitoring Examples

Polling tray6-media-size-loaded and tray7-media-size-loaded confirms which paper sizes are staged in the extended trays, catching a mismatch that would cause a job to fail or substitute paper. outbin3-maximum-binding through outbin5-maximum-binding indicate each mailbox bin's capacity threshold, and comparing current bin fill against this value flags an output bin about to overflow and halt printing; outbin3-phd/outbin4-phd/outbin5-phd report the paper-handling-device hardware status for each bin, revealing a jammed or disconnected bin module.

What Can Be Monitored

  • extra tray media size loaded
  • output bin fill/capacity
  • output bin paper-handling-device status
  • output bin override mode
