Description: Manages IPv4/IPv6 address configuration, DNS suffixes, and service interface preferences for Cisco UCS management and service profile interfaces
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IP-MIB?
CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IP-MIB is a Cisco vendor-specific MIB that models IP addressing configuration within the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) management information model, extending the base CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-MIB object hierarchy. It exposes tables mirroring UCS Manager's managed-object structure — cucsIpDnsSuffixTable for per-host DNS suffixes, cucsIpIPv4DnsTable and cucsIpIPv4WinsServerTable for DNS/WINS server addresses and default gateways used by management interfaces, cucsIpIpV4StaticAddrTable and cucsIpIpV4StaticTargetAddrTable for statically assigned IPv4 addresses and their target addresses, and cucsIpServiceIfTable for the IP address, port, and preference (CucsIpServiceIfPref) of UCS service interfaces. Every entry carries a CucsManagedObjectDn (distinguished name) and Rn (relative name) tying it back to the UCS object model, so this MIB is really a read-only SNMP mirror of UCS Manager's IP-related configuration rather than a traffic/counter MIB. Monitoring it is useful for confirming that a UCS Manager, fabric interconnect, or service profile's management IP, DNS, and gateway settings match intended configuration, and for detecting drift such as an unexpected static address or missing DNS server, and it depends on CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-MIB and CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB for its managed-object types and enumerations. It is deployed on Cisco UCS Manager/fabric interconnect systems, and administrators can perform a CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IP-MIB download to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) Manager and fabric interconnects
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls cucsIpServiceIfTable to check cucsIpServiceIfAddr and cucsIpServiceIfDefGw for a UCS service interface; a mismatch between the expected management address and what SNMP reports would indicate the interface was reconfigured outside of the change-management process.
What Can Be Monitored
- DNS suffix assignments per managed object
- IPv4 DNS/WINS server and default gateway configuration
- static IPv4 address and target address assignments
- service interface IP address, port, and preference
