Description: MIB for Aruba wireless LAN controllers and switches, defining traps for AP events, client authentication, ARM channel changes, VRRP state transitions, and stack topology changes

Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WLSX-TRAP-MIB?

WLSX-TRAP-MIB is Aruba Networks' MIB defining the SNMP trap notifications emitted by its wireless LAN controllers and switches, covering a broad range of operational events across the wireless infrastructure. It defines traps for access point connect/disconnect events, wireless client authentication successes and failures, Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) channel/power changes, VRRP redundancy state transitions, and switch stack topology changes. Its monitoring value is centered on real-time fault and state-change detection rather than polled counters: an operator relies on these traps to be alerted immediately when an AP goes down, a client fails to authenticate repeatedly (a potential security issue), a controller's redundancy state fails over (a high-availability/fault event), or the switch stack topology changes (a hardware/cabling fault), all of which reflect the health of the wireless controller hardware and its managed APs. It is Aruba-proprietary but its VRRP-related traps correlate with the standard VRRP MIB's state model. It is deployed on Aruba wireless LAN controllers and switch stacks in enterprise and campus wireless network deployments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the WLSX-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WLSX-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aruba wireless LAN controllers
  • Aruba switches (stacked)

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only trap/notification types with no sample runtime objects listed, so no specific pollable object names can be cited. In practice a network management station would register as a trap receiver and alert on AP-down, client-authentication-failure, ARM channel-change, VRRP-failover, and stack-topology-change traps to catch AP outages, security issues, and controller redundancy failovers as they happen.
