Description: Manages IP address pools with DHCP, static, and NetBIOS options for automated IP assignment to Cisco UCS service profile management interfaces

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IPPOOL-MIB?

CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IPPOOL-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS Manager MIB family and manages IP address pools -- including DHCP, static, and NetBIOS options -- used to automatically assign management IP addresses to UCS service profiles. It exposes configuration and allocation data: pool blocks, individual address entries, and which service profile (by DN) currently owns each address. Its main monitoring value is capacity tracking -- comparing globally assigned versus globally defined address counts reveals when an IP pool is close to exhaustion, which would prevent new service profiles from being associated with a management IP. It shares the common UCS Manager addressing/DN model with sibling pool MIBs (FCPOOL, UUIDPOOL, MAC pool) and is typically queried together with service profile MIBs. It is used in Cisco UCS-managed data centers that rely on centrally issued management IPs for blade/rack server out-of-band access. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IPPOOL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IPPOOL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS Manager (blade and rack servers)

Monitoring Examples

cucsIppoolAddrTable/cucsIppoolAddrEntry exposes cucsIppoolAddrId, cucsIppoolAddrAssigned, and cucsIppoolAddrAssignedToDn so an admin can trace which service profile holds a given management IP. Tracking cucsIppoolAddrGlobalAssignedCnt against cucsIppoolAddrGlobalDefinedCnt over time flags pool exhaustion before it blocks new profile deployments, and cucsIppoolBlockTable confirms the configured address ranges are as expected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP pool assigned vs. defined address counts
  • individual IP address assignment status
  • service profile-to-IP ownership
  • address block ranges
  • pool exhaustion risk
