Category: Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: ADTRAN

Description: Manages Voice Quality Monitoring (VQM) metrics on ADTRAN AOS devices including MOS scores and jitter buffer statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-AOS-VQM?

ADTRAN-AOS-VQM is an ADTRAN proprietary MIB implementing VQM (Voice Quality Monitoring) on AOS (ADTRAN Operating System) platforms. Its objects cover an end-of-call trap and trap-state/severity-level/event-type configuration, global/SIP/UDP monitoring enable, international-code handling, jitter-buffer type and adaptive min/nominal/max or fixed nominal/size settings with early/late thresholds, round-trip-ping enable/type, call-history size, and history alert thresholds for listening/conversational/perceptual quality MOS (LQMOS/CQMOS/PQMOS), packet loss, out-of-order, and jitter. As a performance/notification MIB it lets an administrator get alerted when a completed VoIP call's quality metrics crossed a configured threshold. It is deployed on ADTRAN AOS platforms with VoIP/SIP trunking. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-AOS-VQM file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-VQM. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS platforms (VoIP/SIP trunking)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks adVqmCfgHistoryThresholdLqmos to confirm the voice-quality alert threshold matches the organization's SLA before relying on VQM end-of-call traps for troubleshooting on an ADTRAN AOS router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • end-of-call voice-quality metrics and threshold alerts
