Description: Manages over-temperature protection thresholds and shutdown actions on ADTRAN AOS devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ADTRAN-AOS-OVER-TEMP-PROTECTION-MIB?
ADTRAN-AOS-OVER-TEMP-PROTECTION-MIB is an ADTRAN vendor MIB for AdtranOS (AOS) network devices that manages over-temperature protection, defining the configuration and trap objects governing how a device responds when internal temperature exceeds safe operating limits. It exposes hardware environmental-protection data: enable/threshold configuration for over-temperature protection and a corresponding trap that fires when the protection mechanism is triggered. Its principal monitoring use is hardware health -- specifically detecting when a device has entered or is approaching an over-temperature condition that could lead to automatic shutdown or throttling, which is critical for catching cooling failures or overloaded chassis before damage occurs. The module follows ADTRAN's standard AOS MIB conformance pattern (Groups/Compliances) rather than depending on external standard MIBs. It is deployed on AdtranOS-based routers, switches, and access devices in environments where chassis or ambient overheating is a real risk, such as poorly ventilated equipment closets. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-AOS-OVER-TEMP-PROTECTION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-OVER-TEMP-PROTECTION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADTRAN AOS-based router/switch/access device
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would monitor adGenAOSOverTempProtection to confirm the protection feature is enabled and whether the device currently reports an over-temperature condition. They would then watch for adGenAOSOverTempProtectionTrap notifications indicating the protection mechanism has activated, such as triggering a fan speed increase or automatic shutdown. Because this module exposes only a single protection-status object and its trap, granular temperature-sensor readings are not available here and would need to come from a separate environmental MIB.
What Can Be Monitored
- over-temperature protection enable/status
- over-temperature protection trap notifications
- over-temperature trap enable/control
