Description: Extends DS1/T1 interface management on ADTRAN AOS devices with additional performance and configuration parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-AOS-DS1-EXT?

ADTRAN-AOS-DS1-EXT is a vendor-specific SNMP module extending DS1/T1 interface monitoring on ADTRAN AOS devices, specifically for tracking threshold-crossing alarms on DS1 line performance statistics. It exposes a table of per-DS1-interface threshold alarm state, recording which 15-minute performance thresholds (such as Bursty Errored Seconds, Coding Slip Seconds, Degraded Minutes, Errored Seconds, Line Code Violations, and Line Errored Seconds) have been exceeded, along with current and previous alarm bitmasks and the time of the last change. Its monitoring value is squarely hardware/line-quality fault detection — it flags when a physical T1/E1 circuit's error-rate thresholds have been crossed, which is a direct signal of line degradation or hardware/cabling problems. It extends and depends on the standard DS1/E1 MIB (RFC 3895, the DS1-MIB) for base DS1 interface objects and performance counters. It is deployed on ADTRAN AOS routers/access devices terminating T1/E1 circuits where proactive threshold-based line-quality alerting is needed. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-AOS-DS1-EXT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-DS1-EXT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS-based router with T1/E1 (DS1) interfaces

Monitoring Examples

The adGenAOSDs1ThresholdsReachedTable/Entry, indexed by adGenAOSDs1Index, includes adGenAOSDs1ThresholdAlarms, adGenAOSDs1PreviousThresholdAlarms, adGenAOSDs1LastThresholdChange, and per-metric threshold fields such as adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinBES, adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinCSS, adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinDM, adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinES, and adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinLCV. An administrator would poll adGenAOSDs1ThresholdAlarms to see which DS1 performance thresholds are currently exceeded on a given circuit, and a nonzero adGenAOSDs1Threshold15MinLES or LCV count would indicate line coding violations pointing to a degraded T1 line or faulty CSU/DSU connection. adGenAOSDs1LastThresholdChange helps determine how recently the alarm condition changed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1 threshold alarm status
  • bursty errored seconds (BES)
  • coding slip seconds (CSS)
  • degraded minutes (DM)
  • errored seconds (ES)
  • line code violations (LCV)
