Category: Vendor: ADTRAN

Description: Manages 3G cellular WAN interface configuration and status on ADTRAN AOS devices for mobile broadband connectivity.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-AOS-3G?

This MIB manages 3G cellular WAN modules installed in ADTRAN AOS routers, part of ADTRAN's enterprise branch-networking product line used for mobile broadband WAN links and cellular failover. It exposes hardware data about the installed 3G module along with configurable threshold values used to trigger alarms on that data. Its emphasis is squarely on hardware status monitoring: signal quality, carrier/module state, and related radio hardware metrics are surfaced through the hardware data table, with the threshold table letting operators define when a metric should be considered degraded or failed. It is a vendor-specific extension layered on top of ADTRAN's own enterprise MIB tree and typically works alongside standard IF-MIB interface objects for the underlying WAN interface. It is deployed in branch-office or remote-site ADTRAN routers that use 3G cellular as a primary or backup WAN connection, and the ADTRAN-AOS-3G MIB is the vendor reference for tracking that cellular hardware's signal and threshold status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-3G. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS router
  • ADTRAN 3G/4G WAN interface module

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll adGenAOS3GHardwareDataTable/adGenAOS3GHardwareDataEntry to check the current hardware status (e.g., signal and module state) of the installed 3G card, and cross-reference adGenAOS3GThresholdDataTable/adGenAOS3GThresholdDataEntry to see what threshold has been configured for alerting. A sustained drop in the hardware data values below the configured threshold would reveal a degrading cellular signal, explaining intermittent WAN failover or reduced throughput on the 3G link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • 3G module hardware status
  • cellular signal/threshold data
  • 3G WAN link quality
