Description: Manages Xylan OmniSwitch ATM circuit emulation service configuration and performance statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XYLAN-ATM-CE-MIB?

The XYLAN-ATM-CE-MIB is a Xylan Corporation MIB (Xylan later became part of Alcatel's OmniSwitch line) for managing ATM Circuit Emulation Service (CES) on OmniSwitch devices, which configures circuit emulation connections carrying constant-bit-rate traffic such as TDM/T1/E1 over an ATM network. It exposes circuit emulation service configuration and performance statistics for individual emulated circuits. Its monitoring emphasis is on service/performance status: per-circuit emulation state and error/performance counters such as cell loss or clock slips that would reveal a degraded TDM-over-ATM circuit, though it does not cover chassis-level environmental monitoring. It builds on the standard ATM-MIB's interface/VCC concepts for the underlying ATM transport, since CES rides over ATM virtual circuits. It was deployed on Xylan/Alcatel OmniSwitch ATM switches carrying legacy TDM voice/data traffic emulated over an ATM backbone. Engineers can download the XYLAN-ATM-CE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLAN-ATM-CE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Xylan OmniSwitch ATM switch

Monitoring Examples

No specific object or table names were extracted for this module. Conceptually, an operator would poll per-circuit emulation service configuration and statistics objects to confirm a CES connection is correctly provisioned and to watch for cell loss, underruns, or clock-slip counters that would indicate a degraded emulated T1/E1 circuit riding over the ATM backbone.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM circuit emulation service configuration
  • emulated circuit performance/error counters
  • circuit provisioning status
