Description: Manages broadband subscriber sessions, authentication, and service activation on Unisphere ERX routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Unisphere-Data-SUBSCRIBER-MIB?

Unisphere-Data-SUBSCRIBER-MIB is a vendor MIB for Unisphere/Juniper ERX broadband edge routers managing individual subscriber sessions, covering local authentication credentials, encapsulation type, and domain/service assignment for each subscriber-facing interface. It exposes a local subscriber table keyed by interface index with fields for encapsulation, control state, username/password (with configurable prefixes), domain, and authentication method. Its monitoring value is software/service-state oriented: administrators verify that subscriber sessions are correctly authenticated and assigned the right service domain, which is central to broadband access troubleshooting for individual customer connections. It works in conjunction with standard interface indexing (ifIndex) conventions from the IETF IF-MIB to tie subscriber records to physical/logical access interfaces. It is deployed on Juniper/Unisphere ERX routers used by broadband/DSL service providers to manage large numbers of individual subscriber PPP or bridged sessions, typically after a Unisphere-Data-SUBSCRIBER-MIB download is loaded into the provider's MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-SUBSCRIBER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper/Unisphere ERX broadband edge router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would inspect usdSubscrLocalTable/usdSubscrLocalEntry rows keyed by usdSubscrLocalIfIndex to confirm usdSubscrLocalEncaps, usdSubscrLocalDomain, and usdSubscrLocalAuthentication settings match the expected subscriber service profile. usdSubscrLocalControl would show whether the subscriber session is enabled, and a mismatch or missing usdSubscrLocalName/usdSubscrLocalPassword configuration would explain a subscriber authentication failure. This table is a primary troubleshooting point when a specific broadband customer cannot establish a session.

What Can Be Monitored

  • subscriber encapsulation type
  • subscriber session control/enabled state
  • subscriber authentication method
  • subscriber domain assignment
  • subscriber username configuration
