Description: Defines conformance statements for Unisphere Serial Line Encapsulation Protocol management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Unisphere-Data-SLEP-CONF?

Unisphere-Data-SLEP-CONF is a vendor-specific AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module from Unisphere Networks that declares which objects of the companion Unisphere-Data-SLEP-MIB — governing the Serial Line Encapsulation Protocol (SLEP) — are implemented by the SNMP agent on Unisphere Routing Switch (later Juniper ERX) devices. It defines a single capabilities statement, usdSlepAgentV1, whose SUPPORTS clause INCLUDES usdSlepGroup, applicable to the Unisphere RX 1.3 and later system releases, with the MODULE-IDENTITY's revision history documenting this as the initial and, so far, only release of the module. As with other AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules, it defines no monitorable data itself; its value is telling an NMS or integrator whether a given firmware version supports SLEP management objects at all before attempting to poll them. It depends entirely on Unisphere-Data-SLEP-MIB for the object group it references and on Unisphere-Data-Agents for its OID registration point. It is deployed alongside the SLEP component of the SNMP agent on Unisphere Networks / Juniper ERX Routing Switch family devices carrying serial-line encapsulated traffic, and developers integrating with these agents typically keep a Unisphere-Data-SLEP-CONF MIB reference on hand for feature-support checks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-SLEP-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Unisphere Networks / Juniper ERX Routing Switch family (SLEP SNMP agent component)

Monitoring Examples

An integrator checks that a device's SNMP agent implements the usdSlepAgentV1 capabilities statement, confirming usdSlepGroup objects are supported, before attempting to poll SLEP-specific serial-line statistics; if the agent capabilities response omits this statement entirely, the integrator knows SLEP monitoring is unsupported on that firmware rather than assuming a polling error.

What Can Be Monitored

  • supported SLEP agent-capability version
  • included SLEP object group (usdSlepGroup)
  • agent firmware/feature compliance for serial-line encapsulation management
