Description: MIB for managing Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS/G.8032) ring instances and node roles on Ubiquoss carrier Ethernet switches

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBQS-ERPS-MIB?

UBQS-ERPS-MIB manages Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS, ITU-T G.8032) ring instances and node roles on Ubiquoss carrier Ethernet switches, providing sub-50ms ring protection for Ethernet ring topologies. It exposes ring-level configuration and status objects (global ERPS settings, per-ring instance state, node role such as RPL owner/neighbor) along with notification-enable controls for ring events. Its monitoring value is centered on network resiliency/fault status: an operator polls ring and node state to confirm whether the ring is in its normal (idle) state or has switched to protection mode due to a link failure, and relies on the module's notifications to be alerted immediately when a ring topology change occurs. It is a vendor implementation of the ITU-T G.8032 ERPS standard, so it depends conceptually on that standard's ring-protection state machine even though the objects are Ubiquoss-proprietary. It is deployed on Ubiquoss carrier Ethernet switches used to build resilient ring topologies in metro or access networks. Engineers can download the UBQS-ERPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-ERPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss carrier Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check ubiErpsGlobal and the per-ring status objects under ubiErpsMIBObjects to confirm each ring's current state (idle vs. protection/switched), and review node role assignment (RPL owner or neighbor) for each switch in the ring. Enabling ubiErpsNotificationEnables ensures that ring state-change events generate SNMP traps under ubiErpsMIBNotifications, alerting the operator immediately when a ring link failure triggers a protection switchover.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ERPS ring state (idle/protection)
  • node role (RPL owner/neighbor)
  • ring topology change events
  • protection switchover notifications
