Description: MIB extending IF-MIB with Ubiquoss-specific physical port type, status, and per-interface operational details for Ubiquoss network equipment

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBQS-INTERFACE-MIB?

UBQS-INTERFACE-MIB is a Ubiquoss vendor extension to the standard IF-MIB (RFC 2863), adding vendor-specific physical port type, status, and per-interface operational detail for Ubiquoss network access/aggregation equipment. It exposes categories such as physical port classification, extended port status, and interface-level notification enable settings layered on top of the standard interface table. Its role in monitoring hardware status is central: it lets an operator see finer-grained port health and media-type detail (e.g., distinguishing a fiber/PON port fault from a simple administrative shutdown) than plain IF-MIB provides. It explicitly depends on and extends IF-MIB, so its objects are meaningful only alongside standard ifIndex-based interface data. It is deployed on Ubiquoss access switches and PON OLT/ONU equipment used in FTTx broadband access networks. Network engineers who download UBQS-INTERFACE-MIB typically compile it alongside standard IF-MIB so the vendor-specific port objects resolve correctly against ifIndex.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-INTERFACE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss access-switch and PON OLT/ONU equipment, entire product line (extended port type/status)

Monitoring Examples

ubiSwitchPort would be indexed alongside ifIndex to expose vendor-specific physical port type and status detail not available in standard IF-MIB, such as a more granular link condition on a fiber or copper port. ubiIfNotificationEnables lets an operator enable per-interface traps so that a fault on a specific physical port triggers a notification via ubiInterfaceMIBNotificationPrefix. An admin monitoring a Ubiquoss access switch would poll ubiPortExt objects alongside ifOperStatus to distinguish an SFP/fiber port fault from a port that was administratively shut down.

What Can Be Monitored

  • physical port type
  • extended port operational status
  • per-interface notification enable state
  • switch port extended attributes

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ubiTrafficControlAlarmCount OID:

Select an Ubiquoss U9732S as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ubiTrafficControlAlarmCount into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports how many times a traffic-control alarm has been raised on this interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the count increases at all during a polling interval, so a new traffic-control alarm doesn't go unnoticed. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
