What Is TROPIC-WAVEKEY-MIB?

TROPIC-WAVEKEY-MIB is part of Nokia's Tropic optical transport product family, managing wavelength-key and optical-channel security provisioning for wavelength-division-multiplexed transport links. It belongs to the optical networking/DWDM transport technology area. Its data centers on configuration objects — wavelength key assignment and channel security provisioning — rather than general system health metrics. Though primarily a security/key-provisioning module, TROPIC-WAVEKEY-MIB SNMP monitoring in an optical transport context is also useful for checking whether an optical channel's security association or key state is healthy versus faulted, complementing hardware/software status exposed by companion Tropic MIBs such as entity and notification modules. It is designed to work alongside other Tropic-branded MIBs that share the same OID tree and reporting model. It is deployed in service-provider optical transport networks running Nokia Tropic DWDM/optical transponder equipment.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-WAVEKEY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia Tropic optical transport/DWDM equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for TROPIC-WAVEKEY-MIB, so a concrete polling scenario cannot be grounded in verified object names; based on the module description alone, an operator would likely check wavelength-key/channel security provisioning state to confirm an optical channel's encryption association has not dropped, but this is inferred rather than object-verified.

tnWtocmChanInfoSummaryTable1.3.6.1.4.1.7483.2.2.3.2.2.1.17not-accessibleThis table provides a quick summary of the state of the Wavelength Tracker functionality within the WTOCM. The summary attributes are octet strings. As an example, the following 6 octets are returned in summary MIB attribute tnChanInfoSummaryExpectedWKMaskIn: 00000100 00000000 00001000 01000010 00000000 11000000 | | | | | | | | 60 55 52 45 40 35 30 19 Each bit represents an ITU channel. The ITU channel numbers decrement from the MSB of the first octet. In the above data, there are expected wave keys on ITU channels 55, 40, 35, 30, 20, 19. The remaining ITU channels have no expected wave keys.
