What Is TROPIC-TC?

TROPIC-TC is Nokia's (Tropic Networks lineage) shared textual-conventions module defining base data types used across the family of Tropic optical transport MIBs. It exposes no monitoring data on its own -- it standardizes the representation of things like switch/entity identifiers, alarm severities, or status enumerations that other Tropic MIBs, such as TROPIC-SYSTEM-MIB, build upon. Hardware and software status monitoring -- uptime, alarms, card health -- is performed by those dependent MIBs, not by this one. It is imported by TROPIC-SYSTEM-MIB and other Tropic-branded optical MIBs to ensure consistent typing across the suite. It is deployed as a supporting module wherever Nokia/Tropic optical transport network elements are managed via SNMP, and the TROPIC-TC OID namespace supplies no object instances of its own, only the shared enumerations and identifiers other Tropic MIBs build upon.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

This module contains only TEXTUAL-CONVENTION type definitions, with no sample_objects and no runtime tables provided, so there is nothing here to poll directly. Its role is purely to define reusable data types, such as identifiers or state enumerations, consumed by other Tropic MIBs like TROPIC-SYSTEM-MIB's tnSysSwitchId. No monitoring scenario is fabricated since this is a types-only support module.
