Category: Nokia Optical Transport

Description: Defines Nokia Tropic global OID registration tree for all Tropic optical transport MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TROPIC-GLOBAL-REG?

TROPIC-GLOBAL-REG is the global OID registration module for Nokia's Tropic optical transport product line, establishing the top-level object identifier tree under which all Tropic-specific MIB modules register their branches. It contains no data objects of its own, serving purely as an administrative registration point rather than a source of monitorable information. Consequently it has no direct role in reporting hardware or software status such as uptime or alarms; that responsibility belongs to the individual Tropic MIB modules that attach beneath this registration tree. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering managed under Nokia's (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) private enterprise OID. Network engineers typically only need to load the TROPIC-GLOBAL-REG MIB file as a compilation prerequisite alongside Nokia Tropic optical transport network element MIBs, rather than deploy it as a standalone module.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-GLOBAL-REG. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia Tropic optical transport network elements

Monitoring Examples

This module defines no runtime objects or tables (sample_objects is empty); it exists solely to register the OID root that other Tropic optical-transport MIB modules use, so there is no standalone monitoring scenario to describe.
