vRtrIfIcmp6OutErrors

Module: TIMETRA-VRTR-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-VRTR-MIB::vRtrIfIcmp6OutErrors

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.3.32.1.19

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The value of vRtrIfIcmp6OutErrors indicates the number of ICMP messages which this interface did not send due to problems discovered within ICMP such as a lack of buffers. This value should not include errors discovered outside the ICMP layer such as the inability of VRtrIpv6 to route the resultant datagram. In some implementations there may be no types of error which contribute to this counter's value.

What is vRtrIfIcmp6OutErrors?

This counter tracks ICMP error messages that a virtual router interface could not send due to internal ICMP problems (such as buffer exhaustion), excluding errors from IP routing failures. ICMP errors report problems with IPv6 communication paths. An operator would monitor this counter to detect when the router is unable to report network problems to sources, indicating potential resource constraints.
