Description: MIB for monitoring and managing OSPFv2 routing protocol areas, neighbors, and interface state on Ubiquoss routers and switches

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UBQS-OSPF-MIB?

UBQS-OSPF-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Ubiquoss implementing management objects for the OSPF Version 2 interior gateway routing protocol on their routers and Layer 3 switches. It exposes OSPF area configuration, neighbor adjacency state, and per-interface OSPF operational parameters used to run and troubleshoot dynamic routing. As a monitoring tool it is primarily used to confirm routing protocol software health, such as whether OSPF neighbor adjacencies are up (full/2-way) or stuck in an intermediate state, and whether interfaces are participating in the correct OSPF area, which reflects control-plane software status rather than physical hardware sensors. It closely parallels and likely supplements the standard IETF OSPF-MIB (RFC 1850) for the vendor's own enterprise tree. It is typically deployed in service provider or enterprise core/aggregation networks running OSPF for internal routing, and a UBQS-OSPF-MIB download is generally the starting point for building that visibility.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UBQS-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ubiquoss router/Layer 3 switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator can walk the OSPF neighbor state objects under ubiOspfMIBObjects to confirm adjacencies with peer routers have reached the Full state rather than being stuck in Init or ExStart, which indicates an OSPF configuration mismatch or MTU issue. Checking OSPF area membership per interface confirms routers are advertising routes into the intended area, catching misconfigurations that could cause routing black holes. A neighbor that repeatedly cycles between Down and Init states signals an unstable adjacency worth investigating at the link or timer-configuration level.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF neighbor adjacency state
  • OSPF area configuration
  • OSPF interface status
  • routing protocol operational health
