What Is SL-OPT-MIB?
SL-OPT-MIB is a Smartoptics SiteLight MIB for optical transponding connections, covering cross-connect configuration for 2.5 Gbps (SONET/OC-48-class) and 10 Gbps transponder services on the platform. It exposes cross-connect tables mapping ingress to egress interfaces, rate-control admin/operational status, loss-of-signal (LOS) propagation behavior, and the configured SONET rate for each connection, plus row-status control for provisioning and a set of optical-layer traps. Its monitoring role centers on optical service configuration and fault status: an operator checks the cross-connect mapping and rate settings to confirm a transponder circuit is provisioned as designed, and monitors LOS propagation and associated traps to catch an optical signal failure being correctly forwarded (or not) to the far end. It builds on standard SONET signal-rate concepts and works alongside the platform's SONET alarm MIB, which supplies the detailed alarm types referenced by this module's traps. It is deployed in Smartoptics SiteLight DWDM/optical transport networks provisioning point-to-point transponder services at 2.5G and 10G rates. Engineers can download the SL-OPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SL-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Smartoptics SiteLight optical transport/DWDM equipment (transponder)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll optXpdConnConfigTable/optXpdConnConfigEntry to verify optXpdConnConfigIngressIf and optXpdConnConfigEgressIf are cross-connected as designed, and check optXpdConnConfigRateControlAdmin against optXpdConnConfigRateControlOper to confirm the rate-control feature is operating as configured. optXpdConnConfigLosPropagation combined with slOptTraps shows whether a loss-of-signal condition on one side of the transponder is being correctly propagated to alert the far-end network, and optXpd10ConnConfigTable provides the equivalent cross-connect view for 10 Gbps circuits.
What Can Be Monitored
- transponder cross-connect ingress/egress mapping
- rate-control admin/operational status
- loss-of-signal (LOS) propagation setting
- configured SONET rate
- cross-connect row/provisioning status
