Category: Environmental Monitoring and Power, Socomec Power Management

Description: Manages Socomec UPS power configuration, battery status, input/output measurements, and alarm conditions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SOCOMECUPS-MIB?

SOCOMECUPS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Socomec, a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems used to protect critical electrical loads. It exposes data on UPS identity and firmware, battery state, input/output power measurements, and alarm/fault conditions. It is heavily used for hardware health monitoring: battery status, seconds/time remaining on battery, estimated charge remaining, battery voltage and temperature, and input line frequency all let an operator detect an aging battery, an impending outage, or overheating before the UPS fails. It loosely follows the object-naming conventions of the standard UPS-MIB (RFC 1628) for battery and input groups, though it is Socomec's own private enterprise MIB. It is typically deployed in data centers and server rooms where Socomec UPS units protect racks of IT equipment, polled by facilities or NOC monitoring systems. Engineers can download the SOCOMECUPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SOCOMECUPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Socomec UPS
  • power protection equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll upsBatteryStatus and upsEstimatedMinutesRemaining together with upsEstimatedChargeRemaining to catch a battery nearing depletion during a mains outage, and would watch upsSecondsOnBattery to see how long the unit has already been running unpowered. upsBatteryTemperature and upsBatteryVoltage reveal thermal stress or cell degradation, while upsInputFrequency and upsInputNumLines confirm the incoming utility feed is stable. A sudden jump in upsSecondsOnBattery combined with falling upsEstimatedChargeRemaining is a classic signal of an unexpected power event in progress.

What Can Be Monitored

  • battery status
  • estimated runtime remaining
  • battery charge percentage
  • battery voltage and temperature
  • input line frequency
  • firmware and serial number identity
