Description: Manages Socomec PDU (Power Distribution Unit) outlet control, power metering, and environmental monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SOCOMECPDU-MIB?
SOCOMECPDU-MIB is a vendor MIB from Socomec for managing rack-mount Power Distribution Units (PDUs), covering outlet identification, output power metering, and alarm conditions, and sits alongside Socomec's UPS management MIBs in the same enterprise tree. It exposes device identity information, output power/current metering per outlet or PDU, and alarm status objects for detecting abnormal power conditions. Its monitoring focus is on power/environmental hardware status: administrators track output load and current draw to avoid overloading a PDU circuit, and monitor alarm objects to catch conditions like overcurrent, overtemperature, or a tripped breaker on the distribution unit. It is closely related to Socomec's UPS MIB (sharing the socomec/ups enterprise branch), suggesting PDUs are often deployed and monitored together with UPS units from the same vendor. Typical deployment is in data-center or telecom equipment racks where Socomec PDUs distribute and meter power to rack-mounted servers and network gear. Engineers can download the SOCOMECPDU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SOCOMECPDU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Socomec rack-mount Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
Monitoring Examples
A data-center operator would poll dpduOutput objects to track load current or power draw on each outlet or PDU output branch, watching for a value approaching the rated circuit capacity. Checking dpduIdent confirms the specific PDU model and identity for inventory purposes. A change in dpduAlarm status would reveal an overcurrent condition or a tripped breaker on the unit, prompting immediate load redistribution to avoid a rack power outage.
What Can Be Monitored
- output current/load per outlet
- PDU alarm status
- PDU identity/model
- power distribution health
