Category: Network Performance Monitoring

Description: Monitors Avaya SLA Monitor network performance measurements including latency, jitter, and packet loss.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SLA-MONITOR-MIB?

SLA-MONITOR-MIB is an Avaya enterprise MIB for the SLA Monitor Agent, a software component that measures network performance metrics such as latency, jitter, and packet loss to verify service-level agreement compliance on Avaya voice/data infrastructure. It exposes the agent's own operational status and its registration relationship with a central SLA Monitor server, including registration state, server address, and registration timestamp, alongside CLI access settings for the agent. Its role in monitoring is primarily software/service status: slaMonitorAgentStatus and slaMonitorAgentRegisteredWithServer indicate whether the measurement agent itself is running and successfully reporting to its controller, which is a prerequisite for any SLA measurement data to be trustworthy. It is an Avaya-specific module with its own notification and conformance branches and no evident dependency on external IETF MIBs. It is typically deployed on Avaya IP telephony endpoints, gateways, or servers used to continuously measure voice/data network quality for SLA verification. Engineers can download the SLA-MONITOR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SLA-MONITOR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avaya IP telephony endpoint or gateway
  • Avaya SLA Monitor agent host

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll slaMonitorAgentStatus to confirm the agent process is running, and slaMonitorAgentRegisteredWithServer combined with slaMonitorAgentRegisteredServerAddr/slaMonitorAgentRegisteredServerPort to verify the agent is correctly checked in with its designated SLA Monitor server. slaMonitorAgentRegistrationTime would be checked to see how recently the agent re-registered, which could indicate a network interruption if it changes unexpectedly. slaMonitorAgentCliAvailable and slaMonitorAgentCliTimeout/slaMonitorAgentCliTimeoutMode reveal whether remote CLI diagnostic access to the agent is currently permitted and under what timeout policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • agent running status
  • server registration state
  • registered server address/port
  • last registration time
  • CLI access availability and timeout
