Category: Network Performance Monitoring, Sonus Networks VoIP Softswitch, VoIP and Telephony

Description: Tracks Sonus Networks softswitch call performance statistics including attempt rates, completions, and quality metrics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SONUS-PERFORMANCE-STATISTICS-MIB?

SONUS-PERFORMANCE-STATISTICS-MIB is a proprietary Sonus Networks MIB delivering real-time and historical call performance statistics for trunk groups on the vendor's softswitch platform. It exposes performance-counter data over rolling intervals: inbound/outbound usage, call counts, call attempts, and maximum completed calls per trunk group. Its core purpose is performance/capacity monitoring: tracking these counters reveals trunk group congestion, unusually high attempt-to-completion ratios, or usage spikes that indicate a routing or capacity problem affecting call quality. It complements other SONUS trunk group configuration MIBs by supplying the runtime statistics side of the same objects. Typical deployment is carrier softswitch environments where NOC teams monitor trunk capacity and call performance in near real time, often after they download the SONUS-PERFORMANCE-STATISTICS-MIB file to load its object definitions into their monitoring platform.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SONUS-PERFORMANCE-STATISTICS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sonus Networks softswitch

Monitoring Examples

sonusTrunkGroupCurrentTable/Entry, indexed by sonusTrunkGroupCurrentIndex, provides live counters such as sonusTrunkGroupCurrentInCalls, sonusTrunkGroupCurrentOutCallAttempts, and sonusTrunkGroupCurrentInUsage/OutUsage. An operator polling these each sonusTrunkGroupIntervalSize would spot a trunk group where call attempts spike but sonusTrunkGroupCurrentMaxCompletedCalls stays flat, indicating congestion or a downstream routing failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • trunk group inbound/outbound usage
  • inbound/outbound call counts
  • call attempt counts
  • max completed calls per interval
  • statistics interval size and count
